Impact Report
About Tzamarot
The Tzamarot Accelerator is an incubator for new, innovative civil society initiatives with strong environmental impact potential.
Innovation focuses on three areas: addressing neglected environmental issues, employing new social-environmental change models, and engaging less involved audiences.
Our program supports initiatives in becoming financially sustainable, with diverse, stable revenue streams. This strengthens financial resilience, a crucial contribution given Israel's limited environmental resources.
Long-term, we aim to enrich the environmental movement with new leaders and innovative models for action and impact.
Since launching in 2020, we've completed three cohorts, each with six organizations. Each organization had 1-3 representatives, averaging two.

Based on the program goals significant progress is evaluated in three dimensions
Conceptual
Organizations produce professional outputs and improve operational strategy through collaborative reflection. Conceptual progress will be presented to a committee for review and approval to ensure effectiveness.
  • Theory of Change
  • Monitoring & Evaluation Plan
  • Work Plan
  • Strategic Improvements
  • Committee Review & Approval
Organizational
Measured in four key ways:
  • ⬆️ Paid Staff
  • ⬆️ Volunteers
  • 🤝 Enhanced Collaboration Capacity
  • 🗓️ Stronger Board Involvement
A 100% increase in staff/volunteers after two years, or reported improvement in other areas, will be considered significant growth.
Financial
All organizations will participate in practical workshops and develop a resource development plan.
  • 100% turnover increase within two years (excluding program grants)
  • 1/3 organizations: Employ a full-time staff member
  • Additional 1/3: Employ a half-time staff member
  • Sustainable Model: All establish diversified income with at least 2 revenue streams.
  • Half of organizations: Rely on 3 sources, each accounting for ≥5% of total turnover.

Success Benchmark: Half of participating organizations achieve significant growth in at least two dimensions, acknowledging varied starting points and progress rates.

Organisational development among Tzamarot participants was assessed through three indicators.
Influence
The influence dimension is more nuanced and individualized; however, in general it was assessed based on one or more of the following criteria:
  • media presence
  • development of a unique tool
  • community engagement
  • influence on decision-makers, and more.
Organizational Capacity
Organizational capacity was assessed based on growth in the number of staff and volunteers.
Financial Capacity
Financial capacity was measured by the organizations’ financial turnover.
Based on these three indicators, organizations were evaluated and categorized according to how many dimensions they demonstrated significant growth in:
Three Stars (***)
Organizations that grew across all three dimensions:
  • Citizens for Clean Air
  • Streets of Trees
Two Stars (**)
Organizations that grew across two dimensions:
  • Future Holders
  • Regenil
  • Endemi
  • Delphis
  • Home Front
  • Food Rescuers
  • Saving the Jerusalem Hills
One Star (*)
Organizations that grew across one dimension:
  • In Our Streets
  • Traveling in Israel
  • Safe Passages for Wildlife

More than half of the participating organisations achieved significant development in at least two dimensions, with two organisations progressing across all three, demonstrating that the initiative met its success benchmarks despite external challenges.
